Prison Writings: My Life Is My Sun Dance

Leonard Peltier is an activist and member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) who has been wrongfully imprisoned for the death of two Federal Bureau of Investigations agents who were killed during a 1975 shootout that the FBI started on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  This book is amazing. This is one of the very few books I have reread many times.  For more information and ways you can help, please go to www.leonardpeltier.net.

The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems by Van Jones

Van Jones has been a dear friend for many years.  He opened my eyes to take a deeper look at how racism works in the world today, in particularly in the U.S.  He helped me in the journey (which feels like a life journey) of undoing my own inherent racism which exists because of the priveledge I experience based on being white.  I shared with him the idea that we can not have lasting justice and peace for people, if we do not at the same time work for justice for and peace with the planet.  It has been amazing to have him as ally, peer, and friend.  I have learned a lot from him, and you could learn some great things, or just have a new frame work for things you already feel and know by reading his book.
